“We were struck by this revealing investigation into the dangers and shortcomings of mammograms. The range of doctors and experts in the film helps make a convincing case, with disturbing points like missing certain cancers and the over-diagnosis of others described by [American Cancer Society’s Dr.] Otis Brawley.” – True/False Film Festival

“We were thrilled to include ‘bOObs: The War On Women’s Breasts’ as part of the Columbia Film Festival. Not only is it a well-made and compelling documentary, but it also carries a powerful message of well-being and healing while dealing with a controversial subject. This is a film that can literally make a difference and save lives.” – Robert Neal Marshall, Executive Producer, Columbia Film Festival

Los Angeles, CA (September 21, 2020) — To coincide with Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, Cinema Libre Studio is thrilled to announce the S/VOD and home entertainment release of ‘bOOBs: The War on Women’s Breasts’ coming to DVD and SVOD on October 6, 2020. The feature length documentary film investigates the controversy swirling around the breast cancer screening test mammography. Over a 30-year period, mammogram’s use led to over-diagnosing 1.3 million U.S. women, resulting in needless treatments for breast cancers that otherwise may not have spread.

‘bOOBs: The War on Women’s Breasts’ film deep dives into the world of radiographic mammography and the possible replacement of this breast cancer screening tool with two other tests used side by side: thermography and ultrasound. Used in combination, these two screening tests also act as a much earlier detection tool as they see inflammation in the breast years before an actual tumor forms. Interviewed for the film, Dr. Otis Brawley, then Chief Medical and Scientific Officer of the American Cancer Society said, “mammography is a suboptimal test” and, further, “we need a better test.”

The film includes interviews from the following renowned doctors in their respective fields: Otis W. Brawley, MD, the former Chief Medical and Scientific Officer of the American Cancer Society, Manfred Doepp, MD, a licensed doctor for nuclear medicine in Germany, Galina Migalko, MD (UKR), NMD, with over 30 years experience as an ultrasonographer and is also trained in thermography, Ben Johnson, MD, DO, NMD, practiced complementary and integrative medicine, and Gloria Jackson, MD, founder of the Foundation for the Healing Arts, Beth DuPree, MD, FACS, ABOIM, a board-certified general surgeon specializing in diseases of the breast.

‘bOObs: The War on Women’s Breasts’ is produced by WayMark Productions and directed by Megan Smith, who holds an M.S. in biology with a thesis in molecular genetics, and currently works as a documentary filmmaker and freelance investigative journalist in the areas of science and health. Originally a short documentary by the same name, which won numerous film festival awards, it was extended into a feature-length documentary, the first feature documentary undertaken by WayMark Productions.

‘bOObs: The War on Women’s Breasts’ has a running time of 97 minutes, is not rated and is heading to DVD and SVOD (Amazon and Vimeo) on October 6, 2020.

SYNOPSIS:

bOObs: The War on Women’s Breasts investigates the controversy swirling around the breast cancer screening test mammography. Over a 30-year period, mammogram’s use led to over-diagnosing 1.3 million U.S. women, resulting in needless treatments for breast cancers that otherwise may not have spread.

Women share heart-breaking stories of how this test tragically left them permanently maimed following questionable diagnosis. One woman describes how her cancer exponentially worsened following the physical trauma from mammograms to her biopsied tumor.

Medical experts scientifically debunk the mammography myths of “early detection” and “low radiation,” which are amplified by cancer associations, women’s health groups, and governmental agencies worldwide.  Requiring more mammographic scans, large- and dense-breasted women are left uninformed about the increased risk for radiation-induced cancers.

Non-conventional medical doctors reveal that the two painless tests of thermography and ultrasound are together a preferred protocol: the former is capable of detecting cancer precursors years before a tumor forms, and neither test contains radiation.  Yet the 20-billion-dollar mammography industry — facilitated by insurance companies and governmental agencies — prevents the wide-spread use of these two tools for breast cancer screening.

Finally, experts break down how questionable science in medical journals and self-interests of big corporations are largely responsible for sending women down this frightful path.
