DIVERSITY UNDER ATTACK IN AMERICA

SYNOPSIS

Bigotry is on the rise again in America, fueled by a president whose views are rooted in racism, misogyny, sexism, and xenophobia. His words and actions as a candidate, and now his policies as president, have breathed new life into an agenda of intolerance across the nation.

This renewed struggle facing immigrants, Latinos, Muslims, black people, women, and transgender people is represented by frontline activist voices from the Southern Poverty Law Center, the National Diversity Council, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and Black Lives Matter.

DIVERSITY UNDER ATTACK IN AMERICA

THE FILM

People of color face increased threats and hate speech; some being told they should leave the country, simply because they are different.

The UnAmerican Struggle is a feature-length, documentary film that offers a new perspective on a very controversial subject.

In 2016, some 62 million American voters elected a presidential candidate whose views were rooted in multiple forms of bigotry -- racism, misogyny, sexism, and xenophobia.

To the dismay of many across the world, Donald Trump is now the President of the United States. This film is not a profile about Trump; rather it’s about the resurgence of bigotry that he brought about with his words, his actions, and, now, as president, his policies. Hate and division have replaced inclusion in America.

The results of the election have made so many diverse groups more vulnerable in America. People of color face increase threats and hate speech; some being told they should leave the country, simply because they are different. The UnAmerican Struggle provides a voice to these groups affected by the bigotry sweeping the nation like a cancer. The film pays close attention to the struggles of Immigrants, Latinos, Muslims, Blacks Lives Matter, Women's Rights, and Transgender People experience in today's America.

The film's participants are subject matter experts and activists that represent key civil rights organizations including, the Southern Poverty Law Center, the National Diversity Council, the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and local groups, such as Black Lives Matter. These individuals share very personal stories; other times, they speak on what Americans need to do to preserve its values and the dangers of remaining silent.
