KATHARINA LORENZ

Katharina Lorenz was born on December 19, 1978 in Leverkusen, Germany. After training at the Otto-Falckenberg Academy of Scenic Arts in Munich, she started her career on stage then in movies and TV series. She appeared several times in the popular German shows TATORT (At The Crime Scene). She now plays the role of Sara Stein in the TV series DER TEL-AVIV-KRIMI of the ARD Channel, an inspector of the Berlin Judicial Police of Jewish origin. Since 2008, she is a permanent member of Vienna's Burgtheater.

Liv Lisa Fries began her career as an actress in 2005. In 2011, she received the Günter-Strack award for the TV movie SIE HAT ES VERDIENT (She Deserves It) by Thomas Stiller and in 2012 the Golden Camera award of the best female rising star in German Cinema. For her role in J’IRAI MOURIR DEMAIN (I'll Die Tomorrow) by Frederik Steiner, in which she plays a young girl with cystic fibrosis, she received the award of the Bavarian Film in 2013, the Max Ophüls award and the Metropolis award for Best Actress.

Nicole Heesters trained as an actress at the Max Reinhardt School of Theater of Vienna and started her career on stage. In addition to the theatre, Nicole Heesters worked in cinema, and television, and radio where she was the first woman to play the role of an investigator on the popular German crime show, TATORT. Since 1973, Nicole Heesters has been a member of the Hamburg's Academy of Arts. She has received multiple awards for her roles on stage. In February 2015, Heersters received the award Louise-Dumont Goldtopas, the oldest award for theatre actresses in the German language.

Matthias Lier was born in Zella, Thuringia, Germany. After training as an electrical engineer, Lier began studying Cybernetics at the University of Stuttgart and then studied acting at the University of Music and Performing Arts, Graz. Lier was featured in the German sitcom LERCHENBERG, and feature films ANTONS FEST (2013), HOMESICK (2015) prior to his role as Ernst Pfeiffer in Lou Andreas-Salomé, The Audacity To Be Free.

Katharina Schüttler’s breakthrough role was her portrayal of singer Greta del Torres in the 2013 International Emmy Award winning Mini-Series GENERATION WAR. She appeared in many films for cinema and television, such as Golden Globe winning production "Carlos" by Olivier Assayas. She is best known to English-language audiences for her lead performances in the Channel 4 drama Mini-Series "The Promise" by Peter Kosminsky, alongside Claire Foy and "Run", by Jonathan Pearson, starring Olivia Colman and Katie Leung. In 2006 she received the German Theatre Award "Der Faust" as Best Actress and was voted "Actress of the Year" by the German Theatre Critics. She was the youngest actress ever to receive this honor.

Paul Rée

Born in Germany in 1980, Philipp Hauß is best known for his lead role in DON CARLOS, INFANT VON SPANIEN, recurring role in the German TV series MONEY.POWER.LOVE (2009), and more recently his portrayal of philosopher Paul Rée in Lou Andreas-Salomé, The Audacity To Be Free.

Alexander Scheer was born on June 1, 1976 in East Berlin, East Germany. He became one of the most successful stage actors of his generation in Germany awarded with several prizes including 'Actor of the Year'. In Golden Globe awarded Carlos the Jackal (2010) Scheer played Johannes Weinrich, the right hand of the terrorist. In upcoming 'Gladbeck' he portrays well known German hostage-taker Dieter Degowski. In 2017 he will appear as a young Captain Teague in Pirates of the Caribbean 5. His portrayal of Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards in 'Das Wilde Leben' (2007) was the kick-off for several screen incarnations of biographic characters such as Blixa Bargeld in PUNK BERLIN 1982 (2015) and Friedrich Nietzsche in Lou Andreas-Salomé, The Audacity To Be Free.

JULIUS FELDMEIER

Rainer Rilke

Julius Feldmeier was born in 1987 in Rostock, German Democratic Republic. From 2008 – 2012, he studied Drama at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg, one of Germany’s largest universities of music. While studying, he featured in multiple productions at the Playhouse Graz. Feldmeier is best known for his lead roles in NOTHING BAD CAN HAPPEN (2013), PEACOCK (2015), and as famous poet and novelist Rainer Maria Rilke in Lou Andreas-Salomé, The Audacity To Be Free.

Friedrich Carl Andreas

Merab Ninidze is a Georgian actor born on November 3, 1965 in Tbilisi, USSR, though resides and works across Vienna and Berlin. Best known for Nowhere in Africa (2001), Bumazhnyy soldat (2008) and Bridge of Spies (2015), Ninidze portrays Friedrich Carl Andreas in Lou Andreas-Salomé, The Audacity To Be Free.

PETER SIMONISCHEK

Gustav von Salomé

Peter Simonischek was born on August 6, 1946 in Graz, Austria. Originally studying architecture at the Graz University of Technology, and took additional science and medical subjects to appease his family’s hope that he would become a doctor. Enrolling secretly in the Graz University of Music and Performing Arts, his love of acting flourished, and Simonischek went on to a series of theater and on-screen roles. He is best known for Toni Erdmann (2016), Oktober November (2013) and Gebürtig (2002).
